Catherine Raven is the author of a beautiful book titled “Fox and I: An Uncommon Friendship”. She has a PhD in biology, holds degrees in zoology and botany, and is a former national park ranger at Glacier, Mount Rainier, North Cascades, Voyageurs, and Yellowstone national parks.

Catherine joins the show today to talk all about what wild animals can teach us about empathy, being, and humanity. She speaks about reciprocity in our relationships with animals and what her uncommon friendship with Fox taught her about life. We discuss how Fox encouraged her to pay close attention to the ideas of right and wrong, having tolerance around the space you share with nature, and why getting to know another being without distractions is important.

You’ll also hear about Catherine’s take on why love isn’t unconditional, what anthropomorphism is, the 6 kingdoms of life and where humans and animals fit in together, as well as Catherine’s newest fiction book that’s in the works
